Recycling Center
The recycling center is located at 221 Water Street, Glenwood City, WI 54013 across from the community center. An ID card is required and can be obtained from the City Clerk.

Tuesdays: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Wednesdays: 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Saturdays: 7:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
LANDFILL IS CLOSED DURING WINTER (Nov. - March)
You will be fined for depositing items after the Recycling Center is closed.
Town of Forest residents are allowed to bring recyclables only, to the center. An ID card is required and can be obtained from the Town of Forest cleark.
Home Guide for Recycling
Glass
- Glass is acceptable in geen, clear and brown colors. No window glass, mirrors, etc.
- Any metal caps, cap rings, foil or any other foreign material must be removed from the glass.
- Glass bottles must be free of sand, dirt and rocks.
- Glass must be reasonably clean. It is not necessary to remove glued on paper labels. Foil must be removed.
Aluminum Cans
- Cans can either be whole or crushed
Tin Cans (Bi-Metal)
- Tin cans can be both whole or crushed and reasonably clean. Labels need not be removed.
Corrugated Cardboard
- Carboard can be either whole boxes or flattened. Waxed cardboard, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, pop or beer cartons are not acceptable at the present time.
Newsprint/Magazines
- All newsprint is acceptable and can include magazines. Paper must be in bags or bundled.
Plastics
- Acceptable plastics include PETE (#1) and HDPE (#2). Containers must be empty and the caps removed and reasonably clean.
The following items can be brough to the Recycling Center, but must be paid for at the City Hall PRIOR to disposal:
$30.00 Items
- Refrigerators, Freezers, Air Conditioners, Dehumidifiers, Microwaves, Televisions (all sizes), Computers, Monitors and anything else with FREON in it.
$20.00 Items
- Stoves, Washers, Dryers and any other appliances not mentioned.
$15.00 Items
- Recliners, Couches, Love Seats, Furnaces, Upholstered Chairs, Furnaces, Table Saws, Organ/pianos.
$10.00 Items
- Water heaters, Toilets, Carpeting (one room's worth not including pad), Carpeting Pads, Mattresses, Boxsprings, Humidifiers, Stereos, Water Softeners, Radiators, Law Mowers and Bathtubs. Exercise machines and bikes, and Stereos.
$5.00 Items
- Bikes, Gas and Charcoal Grills, Printers/Typewrites, Sinks, Tables, VCR's, Vacuum Cleaners, Bikes, Vanities, High Chairs, Windows, Ironing Boards, Steel Doors, Stove Hoods, Garage Door Openers and Dresses.
Tires
- Car Tires - $2.00 per tire
- Small Pick-up Tire - $3.00 per tire
- Pick-up Tries - $5.00 per tire
- Big Truck/Tractor Tires - $10.00 per tire
Shingles: Check with recycling center FIRST.
Pick-up load of remodeling debris/sheetrock: $35.00
ORDINANCE 8-3-9
It is mandatory to recycle in the City of Glenwood City. Any person who violates a provision of this ordinance may be issued a citation by the Glenwood City Police Department. Fines are $50.00 for the first violation, $200.00 for a second violation, and not more than $2,000.00 for a third or subsequent violation.
